Amazon prime series recommendation - 'Closer to Truth: Science vs Religion'

Updated: Jan 19, 2020

I saw the first season of this series in the summer. The host of this program, Dr Robert Lawrence Kuhn, explores the complex interplay between philosophy, religion and science through conversations with a number of theologians, professors, researchers and scientists.

I also loved the fact that this was one of the programs we used to sit and watch together as a family. The ideas and arguments discussed became a part of our dinner table discussions and debates. There were a few episodes with Dr. Michio Kaku, an American theoretical physicist who is a Buddhist. It was thought provoking to hear him say that most religions believe in the idea of harmony, and that science also believes in harmony. He also stated that the two sides of his brain (the emotional side and the analytical side?) are at constant loggerheads with each other. It was truly an engaging and fascinating watch!
